Be mean or go green!
With all the talk about "solar this" and "electric that", we all know that Earth Day is today, Monday, April 22nd! To mark the 43rd annual celebration, Earth Day Network has been collecting images of people who have been directly affected by global warming. According to Earth Day Network, more than one billion people in 192 countries will take part in "depicting the faces of climate change" by showing the images in communities across the world. Though I won't be taking part in those activities today, I can do my part by being "solar conscious."
What I mean by being "solar conscious" is being mindful of the energy that I am expending. These are simple tasks, which I'm pretty sure you have heard before: turning off the light in a room if you are not in it, turning the faucet off when you are brushing your teeth, using rechargeable batteries, etc. Another great way to assist in your "solar consciousness" is by investing in a solar charger. These external battery packs prove remarkable when you are on the go or even indoors: ReVIVE Solar ReStore BST with one add-on solar panel and ReVIVE Solar ReStore 9200 with two add-on solar panels.
The Solar ReStore BST has a 1500mAh battery and takes only 8 hours to charge in direct sunlight with the 240mAh add-on solar panel. It has a 1.0A USB port that can charge smartphones, MP3 players, GPS devices, handheld gaming consoles and more. There is also an LED flashlight.
If you are looking to double your power, go for the ReStore 9200. It has a battery more than six times bigger than the BST! It has two USB ports - 2.1A and 1.0A - that can charge USB-operated devices, including larger ones such as tablets. With the two solar add-on panels, it takes only 13 hours to charge its large 9200mAh battery in direct sunlight. It has a built-in emergency flashlight that provides over 150 hours of continuous light for emergency and camping situations. Both are on sale this week for 50% off!
Even though Earth Day is only officially one day, it does not have to be for you! Be conscious - not only of solar energy, but of other aspects that you can "save" in your life. For example, do not waste food or water (ie: do not take more than you can eat at a buffet); if you are close to a location, walk instead of drive; do not use the washing machine to wash one item of clothing; and, only run your dishwasher when it is full. There are many things that we, as humans, can do to protect the Earth every day of the year. It simply deciding whether to do it or not is the problem.
